Nowadays, the decay in moral decadence has been attributed to social media and negligence by some parents towards child upbringing.
An Islamic scholar based in Kano, Sheik Abba Abdallah Gwale popularly known as Abu Ja’afar stated this in a lecture he delivered at the annual programme organized by the Initiative for Muslim Women of Nigeria (IMWON) Adamawa State chapter held at the Universal Basic Education Board Headquarters, Yola Saturday.
He said society will be healthy and free of crime and criminality if children were groomed based on Islamic tenets and teachings, and noted that some parents don’t monitor the movement of their children and their associates.
Sheik Abdallah, the guest speaker, called on parents to instill moral upbringing in the hearts of their offspring and explained that children with good morals will assist their parents whenever they attend an old age.
The Islamic scholar reminded parents of their responsibility of ensuring the good conduct of their children, by showing love and affection to them.
Sheik Abdallah stated that Islamic scholars have a great role to play in shaping the morals of society, by focusing their preaching on the responsibility of parents towards child upbringing.
He then called on the government at all levels to provide trades and skills to the teeming youths, as a way of mitigating moral decadence in society.
Also speaking, a member of the National Da’awah committee of IMWON, Malama Aisha Musa Umar Kaduna called on Muslim Women to strive hard towards pleasing their parents by being humble and obedient.
In her remark, the State Amirah IMWON, Malama Asma”u Aliyu Abubakar reminded members of the organization to always be committed and appreciated the guest speaker for the lecture.
The theme of this year’s lecture is “Moral decadence and child upbringing, who to blame, parents, scholars, leaders or the society”.
