The Jihad of the founding fathers of Sokoto caliphate led by Shaikh Usmanu BN Fodiyo was purely for the propagation and upliftment of Islam and society in this part of the world. Chairman Local Organizing Committee for the just concluded 9th Dan Fodiyo Week Malam Muhammad Lawal Maidoki Sadaukin Sakkwato made the statement while presenting prizes and certificates to winners of competition in the areas of Quiz, Essay and poetry categories organized under this year’s Sheikh Usmanu BN Fodiyo Week 1444 activities held at premises of Islamic Education Trust (I.E.T) Sokoto.
Malam Muhammad Lawal Maidoki refuted media reports floating on social credited to one JARUMA ONLINE TV against the credibility Shaikh Usmanu Dan Fodiyo describing it as a sponsored plot to destabilize the unity of the Muslim Ummah in the country. He therefore used the medium and challenged youths to counter the false allegations via their respective social media handles.
Sadaukin Sakkwato decried the fall in the study of literature of jihad leaders by young Muslim and rampant innovations being introduced, particularly in marriages contrary to the teachings of Shaikh Usmanu Dan Fodiyo of blessed memory.
He also enjoyed youths to seek knowledge through the literary works of the Sokoto jihad leaders for a decent society.
Prizes were later awarded under the Quiz category to Madarasatul Darasatul Islamiyyah Runjin Sambo who won the first position and Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar Islamiyyah behind Sultan Palace while the 3rd and fourth positions went AbdullahinBN Fodiyo Islamiyyah respectively.
Others were Hasssan Umar Zakari from Madarasaatul Abdullahi BN Fodiyo Islamiyyah emerged winner in Arabic poetry, Nana Asma’u Bello from Morality Academy emerged winner in Hausa poetry while Fadimatu Bashir Shehu Shagari College of Education Staff School bagged the first position in English as Abubakar Abdullahi Lamido from the same school won the first position in Fulfulde.
The result included Hafsat Umar Sulaiman from GDSS Dorowa clinched the apex position in Arabic Essay writing, Hauwau Aliyu Abubakar of BUA Cement School secured first position in Essay writing and Umar Sani Abdullahi Khalil Fodiyo won first position in English Essay writing as Abdullahi Aliyu of Usmanu Dan Fodiyo University Sokoto captured the first position in review of Shaikh Usmanu BN Literary works accordingly.
