Distinguished Scholar, Shaykh Abdullah Hakim Quick visits Nigeria

A senior historian with a lot’s of achivement, Shaykh Abdullah Hakim Quick, PhD has visited many of nation’s of the world and educated millions of people today. The American-Canadian imam and travelling lecturer announces the news of his arrival in Abuja, Nigeria, yesterday in a video posted to his verified social media account.

Shaykh Abdullah Hakim Quick mentioned that he was in Nigeria thanks to the 9th Shaykh ‘Uthman Dan Fodio Week 1444 AH (2022 CE), which was supported by Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar (III) CFR, the Sultan of Sokoto.

Sultan Abubakar is the heir to the two century-old throne founded by his ancestor, Shaykh Usman Dan Fodio or ʿUthmān Ibn Fūdī, (1754–1817). As Sultan of Sokoto, he is considered the spiritual leader of Nigeria’s 98.7 million Muslims, who account for roughly 50 percent of the nation’s population.

Shaykh Abdullah Hakim is known for reaching out to Muslims who live in remote areas. Following his arrival in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city, yesterday, he published the extracts below after visiting a nearby masjid.

He said, “tonight in this beautiful and calming setting in a local masjid in Abuja, Nigeria I had the chance to reflect on the many ways we are connected as Muslims across the globe.

“Forget the stereotypes and what you may think you know — Africa and African Muslims have deep and sophisticated traditions of scholarship and leadership.

“Deeper Roots — the history of Africans in the America’s before Columbus — has been central to my life’s work. Tonight I got to share some of that untold history with my brothers and sisters in one of Nigeria’s major cities.”

Shaykh Abdullah Hakim Quick was born in the United States of America and accepted Islam in Canada in 1970. He pursued his study of Islam at the Islamic University of Madinah, a religious university in Saudi Arabia, where he graduated and received an ijaza from the College of Da’wah and Islamic Sciences in 1979. He later completed a master’s degree and a doctorate in African History at the University of Toronto in Canada. Shaykh Abdullah has served as an imam, teacher, and counselor in the USA, Canada and the West Indies.

He later completed a Master’s Degree and a Doctorate in African History at the University of Toronto in Canada. His thesis was an analysis of the early life of Sheikh ‘Uthman Dan Fodio, a great West African Scholar, Mujahid, and social activist.

Shaykh Abdullah was born in the United States of America and accepted Islam in Canada in 1970.
