Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi, OON, fwc, Chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), congratulated Hajara Ibrahim Dan’azumi on winning first place in the 18th edition of the Hashemite Jordan International Qur’anic Competition for Females.
The competition was held in Jordan from February 17th to 22nd, 2024. The Jordanian Ministry of Endowments, Islamic Affairs, and Holy Places organizes the coveted tournament each year.
Hajara Dan’azumi, a 19-year-old Abubakar Siddiq Community Islamic School student from Gombe who is also a 200 Level Botany student at Gombe State University, represented Nigeria in the 60 Hizb with Tajwid category. She won first place over candidates from 39 other countries with an astounding 99.5%.
Malam Jalal Arabi congratulated the Governor of Gombe State, His Excellency Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya, on Hajara Ibrahim Dan’azumi’s outstanding achievement. At a special ceremony organized by the state administration, the NAHCON chairman, represented by his Personal Assistant, Usman Nuraini, revealed that Malama Hajara would be awarded a 2024 Hajj seat. The event in honor of the prize winner was held on Thursday, March 7, 2024, in the Gombe Government House.
During the ceremony, Governor Inuwa Yahaya presented Hajara with a five million Naira prize for her outstanding performance. Furthermore, the governor provided her a full scholarship package from degree to Ph.D., and another five million Naira award was granted to Hajara’s Islamic school “to improve its operations and enhance the effectiveness of students’ training”. The NAHCON Chairman’s appreciation of Hajara’s accomplishment is consistent with his record of rewarding hard work and quality across the board. Malam Arabi believes that honoring such achievements will inspire others to repeat the feat while carrying the torch that represents the good principles of Islam.
