2023 Hajj: Oyo Pilgrims Board Partners NIS to Expedite Pilgrims’ Travel Arrangements

The Oyo State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board and the Nigeria Immigration Service have both stated their willingness to work together to guarantee that travel plans for Muslims making the annual pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia are processed quickly.

The State Pilgrims Welfare Board’s (Muslim Wing) team visited the new Comptroller of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Mr. Muhammed Tukur Umar, pcct, fsi, in his office at Agodi Gate, Ibadan, on Monday.

Mr. Umar, who was transferred to Ibadan in February of this year, told the Board that his Command was prepared to guarantee the prompt and trouble-free processing of international passports for the state’s intending pilgrims.

He said, “I have ordered my men to fast track the passport issuance and renewal processes for intending pilgrims in need of such services to enable them partake in this year’s hajj exercise. For this purpose, a new passport office has been opened in Ibadan.”

However, the Nigeria Immigration Service Boss’ Ibadan Command sought the list of intended pilgrims so that Ibadan may do their screening.

The head of the immigration service claimed that this “will allow for quick clearance of the pilgrims at the immigration post at the airport.”

The Chairman of the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Professor Sayed Tunde Malik, who was in charge of the visiting group, responded to the statements of the new Ibadan Command Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service by extending a warm welcome to Mr. Umar.

The head of the immigration service was reassured by Professor Malik that his board would cooperate.

“I will ensure that the list of the pilgrims are compiled and forwarded to you as soon as possible”, he stated.

The Secretary of the Board, Alhaja Khadijat Olanipekun, and the Board’s media team joined the Chairman of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board on the tour.
