UNILORIN Governing Council chairman, Abidu Yazid, passed away


Mallam Abidu Yazid, who served as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the University of Ilorin, has passed away. The governing council chairman passed away in the early hours of today in his home following a brief illness, according to a statement released on Thursday and signed by the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Dr. Fola Olowoleni.

“This is to officially inform you of the sudden passing of our dear Governing Council Chairman, Mallam Abidu Yazid,” Olowoleni added,” Olowoleni added. The tragic tragedy took place this morning, September 22, 2022, in the early hours.

“We pray God for the repose of his soul and also pray God to grant him eternal rest. May God forgive his shortcomings and admit him to Aljanah Fridaus.

The university community condoles with the family, the emirate, the Katsina State Government and the entire people of Katsina State. In the statement, it was prayed that God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

The announcement was put up on notice boards across campus. The selection of Professor Wahab Egbewole as the university’s designate vice chancellor on September 8, 2022, was the last task completed by the Yazid-led governing council at the University of Ilorin.

Recall that, on October 16, 2022, Egbewole will take his position as the university’s vice chancellor, succeeding Professor Sulyman Abdulkareem, whose term ends on October 15, 2022.
