Mr. AbdurRahman Lekki has been named the new board secretary of the Lagos State Scholarship Board by Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos State.
The appointment was the result of the State Scholarship Board’s ongoing restructure, according to Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, the Lagos State Head of Service.
The Head of Service noted that, “Lekki’s appointment stemmed from Mr. Governor’s confidence in the appointee’s demonstrated commitment to excellence and quality service delivery in the field of administration.”
Muri-Okunola asked the Board Secretary to lead the Lagos State Scholarship Board to greater heights after confirming that Lekki has worked in a number of Ministries, Agencies, and Offices during his years of service to the Lagos State Government.
He also urged the newly appointed official to build a highly motivated workforce in the State Scholarship Board and lay a good foundation for growth and integrity.
Before his appointment, Lekki served as a Director in the Office of Transformation, Creativity, and Innovations (OTCI). He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the largest non-interest cooperative society in Nigeria, Zero Interest Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society.
The secretary of the new board is a management services consultant and facilitator with expertise in business process design and improvement, structure, human resource management, leadership, change management, emotional intelligence, and financial intelligence.
Mr. AbdurRahman was the first Team Leader of the ACube Business Club, a revolutionary and creative club dedicated to building a world-class, disruptive and highly scalable business development model for the Working Class.
Similarly, he serves as the Convener and Lead Faculty of the Total Freedom Project, a nonprofit leadership development organization dedicated to breeding future leaders.
AbdurRahman Lekki holds a Masters in Business Administration, a Higher National Diploma in Marketing, and a Bachelor of Science in Economics. He graduated from Oxford University’s prestigious Blavatnik School of Government in the UK. Both the Nigeria Institute of Management (Chartered) and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management recognize him as a member.
He has to his credit, over 10,000 man hours as a facilitator and participant at various Local and International Leadership courses. He has consulted and worked with a wide range of private and public sector organizations throughout Nigeria. He is also actively involved in several human capacity building initiatives.
Lekki has won a number of accolades, including the 2013 NAPS (National Association of Polytechnic Students) “The Youth Motivator of the Year Award.” In addition to winning the prestigious Lagos State Outstanding Officer of the Year Award in 2018, he also received the Best Officer Award (Senior Staff Category) in 2016 and 2017. He also won the Senior Staff Category of the Lagos State Productivity Order of Merit Award in 2020.
