The new Grand Khadi of the Shariah Court of Appeal, Khadi Yusuf Abubakar Agwai II, was inaugurated by the governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, on Thursday in Lafia, the state’s capital.
The former Grand Khadi of the Sharia Court of Appeal retired, according to the governor, necessitating the appointment of the new Grand Khadi.
He stated that the National Judicial Council’s (NJC) recommendation served as the basis for the gesture.
Governor Sule encouraged the incoming Grand Khadi to make sure that Sharia courts in the State remain the embodiment of hope and justice in accordance with Islamic Jurisprudence.
Additionally, Governor Abdullahi Sule swore in six new Permanent Secretaries at the same event.
Remember that on August 1st, the Governor sent a letter to the State House of Assembly asking for confirmation of the appointment of Grand Khadi to the Sharia Court of Appeal in Nasarawa State.
“Pursuant of section 271 ( 1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 ( as amended) and the powers conferred on me as the Governor, to appoint the Grand Khadi, Sharia Court of Appeal of Nasarawa State.
“I Engr. Abd Allah A. Sule, governor of Nasarawa State, acting on the recommendation by the National Judicial Council do hereby forward the nomination of Hon Kadi Bahago Yusuf Abubakar Agwai 11 for consideration and confirmation of his appointment as the Grand Khadi, Sharia Court of Appeal of Nasarawa State.
“I look forward to your expeditious consideration,“ the Governor stated.
On August 2, 2022, the State House of Assembly approved Bahago to serve as the Grand Khadi of the Nasarawa State Sharia Court of Appeal.
Also, at the same event Governor Sule Sworn-in six new Permanent Secretaries.
