A guest Imam for Taraweeh prayers at Masjid Al Nabawi (Ramadan 1439/2018) and the Imam of Masjid Al Qiblatein in Madinah, Shaykh Mahmoud Khalil Al-Qari رحمه الله, has died.

Shaykh Mahmoud Al-Qari served as the guest imam of Masjid An-Nabawwy in Ramadan 1439 (2018).

Shaykh Mahmoud Khalil Al-Qari was born in Medina. At the age of ten, Shaykh Abu Ibrahim adopted the surname and learned the Holy Qur’an. He then obtained a copy of the Qur’an from his father, Qari Khalil Al-Qari. Many of the Imams of the Haramain were taught by his father, Khalil Al-Qari.

He attended Tahafiz-ul-Quran private schools in Madinah for his elementary, middle, and secondary education. He finished his undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Holy Qur’an and Islamic Studies and and became associated with the responsibilities of Imamate in the Prophet’s Mosque.

The late Shaykh Mahmoud Al-Qari also performed the duty of leading Taraweeh prayers in Masjid Al-Nabawi. He had been ailing for a few years and passed away in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

He was a compassionate and lovely man who will be remembered for his devotion to the Quran, his exquisite recitation, and his work as a teacher to countless numbers of students.

The Janazah Salah of Shaykh Mahmoud Al-Qari رحمه الله will be led in Masjid Al-Nabawi, Madinah, following Maghrib Prayers today (Saturday), reports media website Haramain Sharafain, which is based in Saudi Arabia. He’ll be buried in the Al -Baqi Cemetery.
