On Sunday, June 26, 2022, the Ondo State Council for Islamic Affairs, which is a branch of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, convened an emergency meeting at the Ilara-Mokin Central Mosque and released a statement that was signed by its secretary and chairman, Alhaji Nasirullahi Atere and Alhaji Muhammad Abibullahi Akinpelumi.
The Ondo State Council for Islamic Affairs expresses its unhappiness and condemns the appointment of 18 Education Secretaries for the 18 local Government, none of whom are Muslims.
“The appointment is seen to be one sided and an act of injustice, capable of christianizing the state, Ondo State.”
The Muslim organization urge the Government to act justly in all her dealings in the state, including appointing leaders of the state and also call for the reverse of the pronouncement of returning schools to faith base organization.
The statement said, “We appreciate the effort of the State in all her effort to expose those behind the Owo massacre. We implore that the suspected attackers arrested by Amotekun be exposed as soon as investigations are done and confirmed.
“We Implore all Muslims of Ondo-State to get their PVC in preparation for the upcoming election.
In conclusion, we advise that the government should make provisions for CCTV cameras in all places of worship, this would assist the Government in her efforts to curb insecurity in the state, the statement added.
