In a momentous event celebrating academic excellence, Alamu Azeez Adebayo, a native of Iwo, emerged as a standout figure among the 450 students who were awarded first-class honors at the 37th and 38th convocation ceremonies of the University of Ilorin on October 20, 2023.
Adebayo’s educational journey at Unilorin etched history, marking him as the inaugural graduate in the university’s 47-year history to attain a First-Class degree in the Department of Political Science. This feat, reminiscent of the announcement in December 2022, underscores his exceptional achievement in breaking a 40-year record at UNILORIN.
A proud son of the Lakata Compound (Ile Lakata) in Iwo, Osun State, Adebayo completed his studies with an impressive 4.58 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). His outstanding performance did not go unnoticed, drawing the attention of Distinguished Professor Toyin Falola, a luminary in the realm of academia, who generously extended a full-scale scholarship for a Ph.D. program to Alamu Azeez Adebayo, affectionately known as ‘Mr. Nigeria.’ This inspiring tale of the Iwo-born prodigy exemplifies the boundless potential that education and determination hold for transformative journeys toward academic and personal fulfillment.
