A verified report reaching us has shown that Oyun Baptist High School, Ijagbo has adamantly stand against the circular of the Kwara State Government which allows willing Muslim students to use Hijaab in all Government schools across the State.

On Monday 17th of January,2022, school had sent some student back to their parent as a result of wearing Hijaab in the school premises, on getting to the school on 19th January, 2022 with their parents, the principal, some baptised elders and Oyun CAN unanimously told the parent to go home with their wards as government can not claim the sole ownership of the school by sending circular without involving the churches, the report noted.

Adding that, “As Islam preaches peaceful coexistence, the parents peacefully dialogue with them that why it is a crime for Muslims to exercise their civic right in their own country? One of the parents also re-affirm that in Muslim owned missionary Schools no christian student is compelled to use hijaab despite the havoc indecent dresses have being causing in our society.

“The entire Muslim of Oyun Community is now looking forward to the Government to swift into action as soon as possible as the OBHS categorically stated that students should leave the school with their parents if they insist on using Hijaab,”their report said.

In another report, similar controversy on the wearing of hijab happened at St Claire’s Girls Secondary School, Offa in Oyun, Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State.
