This year’s Abdullatif Al Fozan Award for Mosque Architecture under the theme: Mosque architecture in the 21st Century has named the winners of its third international competition.
A total of 201 mosques from 43 countries were nominated of which seven received the final award:
1. Grand Mosque of West Sumatra in Padang, Indonesia.
2. Amir Shakib Arslan Mosque in Moukhtara, Lebanon.
3.Sancaklar Mosque Mosque Mosque in Buyukçekmece, Turkey.
4.Basuna Mosque (Al Abu Stait) in Basunah, Egypt.
5.Great Mosque of Djenné, Mali.
6.KAFD Grand Mosque in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
7.Red Mosque in in Keraniganj Upazila, Bangladesh.
Established in 2011, Abdullatif Al Fozan Award for Mosque Architecture, it’s targeting the architectural, urban, and technical aspects of mosques all over the world, and It will be awarded to the related designer/architect.
The award is triennial; the winning mosques will be awarded based on assessment of an international architectural jurors experienced with mosque architecture, who will relatively evaluate and assign the winning mosques.
While the candidate mosques will be categorized into three categories; Central Mosques, Jumaa’ Mosques, and local mosques. The Award was named rewarding its founder and his efforts and history in supporting charities.
