Sheikh Imam Talihat Oluwashina Yunus Ayilara has been named as the new Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland.
On Thursday, November 11, Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III select Sheikh Taliat as the 13th Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland. He succeeded the late Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr Alamal Yekeen Ashafa Adegboyega Sunusi who passed away on October 7, 2021.
Before his appointment the 40 years old Sheikh Talihat is the Founder/Principal, Talihat Yusuf Centre for Arabic and Islamic Studies; and also the Imam of Adiam Central Mosque, Iporo-Ake both located in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Imam Taliat disclosed this in a letter addressed to Adiam Central Mosque, Iporo-Ake, Abeokuta states that, “about a month ago, after the demise of the late Imam of Ogbomoso land, I was beckoned by my family to fill the position. After a long process of screening, I was appointed today, 11th November 2021 by the Soun of Ogbomosoland as the 13th Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland.
“This is a rare privilege to propagate Islam and I beseech the Almighty Allah for his guidance and mercy as I embark on this journey.
“I must sincerely appreciate the very rare privilege I was afforded by Alhaji Sulaimon Ayinla, the Custodian of Adiam Memorial Central Mosque to lead the congregation for the last ten years, may the Almighty reward you abundantly.
“To my congregants in Adiam, Iporo-Ake and Abeokuta, it has been an honour to share the words of Allah and His Prophet (S.A.W) with you for the past ten years. May the Almighty keep the congregation together and bless you all. Amin. Jazakumullahu Khairan,” Imam Taliat noted.
