On Monday, Sudanese Prime Minister, Abdalla Hamdok and other members of the transitional government were detained and taken to an unidentified location by the Joint Military Forces.
The country’s information ministry said, “After he refused to be a part of the coup, a force from the army detained Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok and took him to an unidentified location.”
The ministry statement on Facebook noted that civilian members of the transitional sovereign council and a number of ministers from the transitional government had also been detained by the army.
The official Facebook page of Prime Minister’s office said the detainees are; Ibrahim al-Sheikh, minister of industry; Hamza Baloul, minister of information; Mohammed al-Fiky Suliman, member of the sovereign council; and Faisal Mohammed Saleh, media adviser to the prime minister. Ayman Khalid, governor of the state containing Khartoum, was also arrested.
A failed coup plot in September, has resulted in a crisis between military and civilian interim government which take over Sudan after the fall of former President Omar al-Bashir.
