Students of all levels of school and university education in Saudi Arabia will continue to pursue studies through remote learning for the second semester of the academic year, the Ministry of Education said on Wednesday.
In a press statement, the ministry stated that a royal decree has been issued to continue distance education until the end of the 10th week of the second semester in all levels of public, university, and technical education in line with the set previous mechanism.
The ministry noted that, the
University and Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) students studying theoretical courses will continue with remote learning whilst students of practical and training courses will attend in person.
“The distance learning classes for the intermediate and secondary phases of school education will start from 9 a.m. while the remote classes for the elementary level will start from 3 p.m. This will be in accordance with the powers entrusted to the concerned authorities and councils while taking all precautionary measures and health protocols.”
This stems from the leadership’s keenness for the safety of students and the continuity of the education journey despite the pandemic, the ministry affirmed.
Further, it reiterated confidence in teachers, faculty members, and trainers in their continued effective management of distance education and training.

The ministry lauded the role of family and parents in this regard. The ministry has carried out updating of its Madrasati platform in the wake of the start of the second semester.
According to the remote education system, lessons are explained in Saudi Arabia via the Madrasty platform and a set of television channel linked to the Education Ministry. Educational institutions will open on Sunday after a short vacation in the mid academic year.
Saudi Arabia has seen a significant drop in COVID-19 infection rates amid stringent precautions against the highly contagious disease in recent weeks.
