The 2025 best graduating student at Crescent University, Abeokuta, Habib Ganiyu, who emerged from the Bola Ajibola College of Law (BACOLAW) has attributed his success to discipline and effective time management, stressing that “the fusion of academic excellence with moral grounding at Crescent University ensures we are not just professionals, but ethical leaders society can trust. ”
A multiple award winner, Ganiyu, who will be delivering his valedictory speech on behalf of over 500 other graduands, is the first product of BACOLAW to achieve the feat with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.96, according to the University website.
In an interview with Crescent TV, he said” although, I study during the day, when necessary, I am more of a night reader. The quietness of the night helps me concentrate deeply. But beyond the clock, I study in short, consistent intervals focusing on quality rather than quantity.”
On his reaction when he received the news of being the 2025 valedictorian, he said “it was a humbling moment for me because I saw it not just as a personal achievement but as a recognition of God’s grace, the support of my family, my lecturers, and my colleagues”.
A member of the Nigeria Institute of Chartered Arbitrators, Ganiyu has represented Crescent University in various national and international competitions including the International Criminal Court (ICC) Vis Pre-Moot Competition, Paris, France (2024), IBA ICC Moot Competition, The Hague Netherlands (2025), I.O. Agbede Advocacy Competition, Babcock University (2025), NAMLAS OOU Mock Competition, Ago-Iowye (2025), Ogun State LAWSAN Directorate Mock Competition, Babcock University (2023), National Data Protection Competition, UNILAG (2023), National Data Protection Competition UNILAG (2024) and several others where he made Crescent University proud.
On being the first valedictorian from BACOLAW, he described it as an honour and responsibility. “It means blazing a trail for others coming behind me. I see it as proof that BACOLAW has what it takes to compete with the best, and I hope my journey inspires my colleagues to aim higher”, Ganiyu concluded.
