The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, penultimate Saturday (February 1, 2025), led dignitaries from all walks of life to celebrate with a former Head of the Department of Islamic Law in the University, Prof. AbdulRazzaq AbdulMajeed Alaro, as he gave out his daughter, Dr Maryam AbdulRazzaq AbdulMajeed Alaro, in marriage to Mr Muhammad Mustapha Abdullah.
The event, which took place at the University Multipurpose Hall, also witnessed reading from the Holy Quran, special poetic renditions in Yoruba and Arabic languages as well as a special lecture delivered by the Proprietor of Muyideen College of Education, Ilorin, Dr Mashood Jibril Shaban.
Dr Shaban, who quoted extensively from the Holy Quran and the traditions of Prophet Muhammad, urged couples to love one another for sanity to always prevail in every matrimony, saying that for marriage to succeed and endure they must be ready to compromise and forgive each other.
A number of dignitaries at the event also took time to counsel the new couple on the journey of marriage as they were advised to always be patient with each other.
Others who attended the event included a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin and incumbent Chairman of the Governing Council, Kwara State University, Malete, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, OON and his wife, Prof. Hassanat Taiwo Ambali and the Vice Chancellor of the Kwara State University, Malete, Prof. Shaykh Lukman Jimoh.
Also in attendance were the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Moji Taibat Bakare-Odunola; the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Adegboyega Adisa Fawole; and the University Registrar, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla.
Others were the immediate past Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Suleiman Funsho Ambali and his wife, Mrs Zainab Ambali; the Dean, Faculty of Physical Sciences, Prof. Baba Abdullahi Alafara; and the Director, Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB), University of Ilorin, Prof. Ibrahim Kayode Adam, among several others. Speaking to UNILORIN Bulletin on the sidelines of the ceremony, Prof. Alaro thanked the Vice Chancellor and all those who attended the event for the love extended to him and his family.
