The Nigeria Muslim community deeply mourns the passing of Amir Qamarudeen Ajala, a beloved leader, mentor, and servant of Allah, who departed this world Thursday evening, 23rd Rajab,1446 AH. (23rd January 2025).
Amir Qamardeen Ajala, one of the the earliest activists of the dawah of Islamic renaissance in Lagos. Beginning his jihadist activities in Erelu Square, Isale-Eko, in the early 1990s, Amir Ajala led a group named “Ibaadu llah Asabiruun,” of which many Indigenous Isale-Eko people were members. This group helped him traverse various Islamic doctrines, which some people at the time found unacceptable.
Before his death, Amir Qamarudeen Ajala was the founder of Markaz Dawati Ila llahi Islamic Center, Hajj Monsur Consolidated Travels Limited, a presenter of Islamic programme on MITV and Radio Nigeria BOND FM.
The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, described the death of the Muslim cleric as a big loss to Lagos State, happening at a time when the government is working with people of means to help in the reorientation of the youths.
The Governor said the late Amir Ajala left an indelible mark on the Muslim community and his followers across the world, and he would be sorely missed.
According to The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Lagos State Area Unit, Amir Ajala was a beacon of light, who dedicated his life to the service of Islam and humanity. His leadership, humility, and unwavering commitment to the development of the Muslim community will remain a lasting legacy.
The Amir of MSSN Lagos, Kamoldeen Abiona, expressed profound grief and described the loss as irreplaceable: ” Amir Qammarudeen was a model of dedication and sincerity. May Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus, and strengthen his family and loved ones during this difficult time.” The MSSNLagos extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the entire Muslim community.
The Burial Committee stated that the Janazah prayer (Salatul Janazah) will hold today Friday 24th January 2025 at Campus Mini Stadium, Lagos Island at about 10:00 am promptly. ‘‘We leave immediately after the prayer for the burial activities at the Mainland Central Muslim Community Burial Ground, Mowe/Ofada, Ogun State, ‘’ the statement added.
