In November 2024, Bauchi Islamic scholar, Sheik Isma’il Bajoga built and commissioned a gigantic mosque & Islamic centre, named after Sheik Muhammad Bajoga at Tidun Salmanu in Bauchi, media report stated.
Bauchi, town, capital of Bauchi state and traditional emirate, northeastern Nigeria. Bauchi town lies on the railroad from Maiduguri to Kafanchan (where it joins the line to Port Harcourt) and has road connections to Jos, Kano, and Maiduguri.
However, Islam came to Bauchi from the Borno axis in the early part of the 14th century; however, it did not get solid root until the end of the seventeenth century through the Sokoto Caliphate.
Islam and its many diverse characteristics have been observed to impact greatly on socio-political system prevalent in northern Nigeria. Material manifestations and traditions of history of its modern populations are of great significance because they give us a picture of the nature of past societies in northern Nigeria and how they interacted with the outside world.
