Al-Qurraa’ Schools Honour Teachers: An Event to Remember


Celebrated in many countries, students and families recognize Teachers’ Day and actively support teachers for their dedication to offering personal fulfilment through education. Around the world, Teachers’ Day pays tribute to the hard work and contributions of teaching personnel, from preschool to higher education.

The 2024 World Teachers’ Day celebration, themed “Valuing Teachers’ Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education,” emphasised on the importance of integrating teacher perspectives into educational policies. It also highlights the need to provide teachers with ongoing professional development in a supportive environment.

In lieu of this, a spectacular picnic which was held at Palms Mall, Challenge Ibadan on Saturday, 5th October 2024 was organised to celebrate the teachers of Al-Qurraa’ Schools. The event included sharing teachers’ experience at Al-Qurraa’ Schools, quiz competition, cash gift, and varieties of special delicacies.

The director of the prestigious school, Imam Abdulhafeez Ariremako in his remark, stated that “Teaching is not encouraging in this part of the climes. Without good teachers, future of a nation will be gloomy and jeopardized. We need to encourage and make teaching appealing by giving respect, honour and values teachers deserve. Most importantly, they must be well remunerated. It has to start somewhere; this is my own little effort in practising through Al-Qurraa’ Schools what I preach.”

He also indicated that the rationale behind the initiative of celebrating teachers specially was borne out of the need for teachers to also enjoy the same privilege that people of other professions enjoy. He ended his speech by calling on the government and other stakeholders to rise to the occasion ensuring that teachers’ impact is recognised and duly appreciated in the society, as they play a crucial role in shaping and reshaping the minds of everyone in the society.

In addition to this, some of the staff members shared their experience. Mr Alaka, the principal of the school said, ‘‘Alhamdulillaah. My team and I were celebrated beyond imagination. Come to think of it. I have worked with two multinational companies in Nigeria, and I have never been celebrated, cherished, pampered and honoured the way I and my team were celebrated at the event. Even the family at home were also celebrated beyond imagination.’’

While recounting his experience, Mr Toyyib MutiuLlahi stated that “Working in Al-Qurraa’ is the best thing that has ever happened to me, even though, I had worked in more than five schools before joining Al-Qurraa’ “. Also, Mr Ridwan Arogundade could not hide his joy as he stated that “I wish I had joined Al-Qurraa’ long before now”. Mrs Shukrah said that it had always been her dream to work in Al-Qurraa’ and she’s obliged that her request was granted.

‘‘If all schools can be like Al-Qurraa’ Schools Ibadan, I bet it with you people will want to be teachers. I never regret for a day being a staff of this great school,’’ said Mr Adegbenle Yusuf, the biology teacher of Al-Qurraa’ College.

In his appreciation, Mr Ajala Muhammad, head of Business department, applauds the Proprietor. He said, ‘‘On behalf of my department, I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for organizing the wonderful outing in celebration of World Teacher’s Day. Your thoughtful gesture made the day truly special and memorable for all of us.

The outing not only allowed us to relax and enjoy ourselves, but it also fostered a sense of unity and belonging within the Al-Qurraa’ community. Thank you for valuing our contributions and for making us feel appreciated. We look forward to continuing our work with renewed energy and enthusiasm, knowing that our efforts are acknowledged by such a supportive and caring management team.’’

The event was rounded off by sponsoring the staff to shop for their needs as well as that of their spouses and children at the mall. It was a memorable event, as each member of staff felt honoured and appreciated for being a teacher.
