Dr Ahmed Audi, Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has ordered the strategic deployment of more than 40,000 personnel across the country.
Babawale Afolabi, the Corps’ spokesman, said in a statement on Monday that the deployment aimed to defend lives and property, as well as the nation’s Critical National Assets and Infrastructure. He intimated that the Corps will use both kinetic and non-kinetic techniques to prevent criminal activity before, during, and after the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations in all states across the country.
“As the Holy month of Ramadan draws to an end, on behalf of the administration and personnel of the NSCDC, it is my pleasure to congratulate all our Muslim brothers, wishing them a blessed, peaceful and joyful Eid-el-Fitr!”
“This felicitation comes with the unwavering assurance that the celebration will go off without a hitch, as officers and men of the Corps will be strategically deployed to public places, Eid prayer grounds, shopping malls, markets, motor parks, and other flash points across various formations and states of the federation.
“Notably, the State Commandants have been directed to deploy their personnel to strategic locations and flash points while ensuring strong collaborations with other sister security agencies and adequate supervision of their personnel for effective service delivery,” said Audi in a press release. While praying for national peace, Audi urged Muslims to meditate on Ramadan’s lessons of compassion, unity, and mutual respect for human dignity.
