Ramadan: The government of Niger announces a five-day public holiday

The governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umar Bago, has proclaimed Monday through Friday of this week as a public holiday in order to oversee the distribution of palliative care and conduct Ramadan feedings.

The governor announced that palliatives will be distributed throughout the state to lessen the impact of the economic downturn on the populace.

The public holiday is intended to allow civil servants and political office holders to take part in the distribution and oversight of the palliatives and Ramadan feeding in their respective local government regions, as stated in a statement issued by Honorable Binta Mamman, Commissioner of Information.

In order for the exercise to go smoothly and successfully, she urged the public to assist the officials and to maintain order at all distribution and feeding locations. She also called on political office holders and civil servants to view the duty as a vocation to serve mankind.
