With 4.94 CGPA Ibrahim Abiodun Quadri Emerge as UNILAG Best Graduating Student in Humanities

Prestigious convocation prizes are given to graduating students. These honors represent a student’s greatest academic achievement within a faculty or program. At the 54th convocation ceremonies of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, the vice-chancellor, Folasade Ogunsola has announced that Ibrahim Abiodun Quadri from the Faculty of Management Sciences with a CGPA of 4.94 is the second best graduating student. Meanwhile, David Oluwatomiwa Akanmu, achieved a perfect 5.00 CGPA and emerged as the overall best student for the 2021/2023 academic session.

Ibrahim Abiodun Quadri who graduated from the Department of Accounting, Faculty of Management Sciences with first class honours has won several awards including the best graduating student in Humanities.

“This year we will be graduating 17,464 students. Of these,10,578 will receive first degrees and 6,886 are postgraduate. While a total of 340 graduands will be awarded first-class degree certificates. Mrs Ogunsola noted that 189 of the first-class students are female, while 181 are male.

She said 97 are from the Faculty of Management Sciences, followed by Science with 57 and Engineering with 47.

Also, from the Faculties of Pharmacy, Basic Medical Sciences, and Clinical Sciences, there were 39 distinctions, of which 24 are from the Faculty of Pharmacy.

Similarly, she indicated that 3,374 graduated with second class upper; 4,547 with second class lower; 1,832, 3rd class; 188 graduated with a pass; and 250 had unclassified degrees from Pharmacy, Basic and Clinical Sciences.

“The congregation for the award of first degrees, diplomas, certificates, and prizes to graduating students across all Faculties and the Distance Learning Institute, will take place in morning and afternoon sessions, from Tuesday, 16, and Wednesday 17 January 2024.

“On Thursday, January 18, 2024, Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters, and Ph.D. degrees will be conferred on graduates of the School of Postgraduate Studies and the University of Lagos Business School,” she said.

Furthermore, she noted that 155 graduates will be awarded the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in various disciplines.

Mrs Ogunsola stated that the overall best Ph.D. Thesis award goes to Aminat Olawunmi Ige, with a Ph.D. in Mathematics, while the best Ph.D. in humanities goes to Issa Akanji Adedokun, with a Ph.D. in Private and Property Law.

UNILAG, is a public research university located in Lagos, Nigeria and was founded in 1962. The University of Lagos is one of the first generation universities in Nigeria and is ranked among the top universities in the world in major education publications.
