Yobe State Prepares to Host the 38th Edition of the National Qur’anic Recitation Competition

The Yobe State Government, under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni CON, has successfully concluded arrangements to host the forthcoming 38th National Qur’anic Recitation Competition (Musabaqah).

This significant event will be organized through a collaborative effort between the Musabaqah Foundation for Qur’anic Recitation in Nigeria and the Centre for Islamic Studies at Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto.

The official commencement ceremony is poised to take place at the August 27 Stadium in Damaturu  marking a momentous occasion for both participants and spectators alike.

At the NUJ secretariat, in Damaturu, Yobe state capital, he commissioner, Ministry of Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Abdullahi Bego, disclosed this while briefing journalists.

Bego noted that the event, which will kick off on Friday, December 22, will have President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as special guest of honour, while Governor Zulum will serve as chairman of the closing ceremony.

He said the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, will serve as a special royal guest, while the Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Geidam, will serve as the chairman of the opening ceremony.

“About 296 participants from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are to feature in the 10 categories of the competition.”

He added that Yobe has eight participants in the competition and with the level of support and training they have received, the state is optimistic that they will emerge as winners.

It is noteworthy to mention that the last instance of Yobe State hosting the esteemed Annual Qur’anic Recitation Competition (Musabaqah) dates back to the year 2003.
