Islamiyyah Abdullateef received a first-class honours grade of 4.90 cumulative grade points out of a possible 5.00 exactly one week ago on December 7, 2023, at the OAU 47th Convocation, held at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
“Gentlemen and ladies, I’m thrilled to share with you, a milestone I’ve achieved,” says Islamiyyah as she breaks the incredible news on LinkedIn. On Thursday, Dec 7th 2023, I officially graduated from the department of Management and Accounting, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife during the 47th convocation with first class honours (4.90 CGPA), having completed my first degree.”
She claimed to have won nine awards at the recently held convocation ceremony, including best graduating student in the Management and Accounting department, faculty of Administration’s best graduating student, best-graduating female with the highest CGPA, and best graduating student with an average score in Taxation I and II.
Islamiyyah said,”the most beautiful part is how I bagged 9 awards, having qualified for:
Best Graduating Student, Department of Management and Accounting;
Best Graduating Student, Faculty of Administration;
Best Student with an average score in Taxation 1 and 2; and
Best graduating female with the highest CGPA in the University.
“The journey wasn’t particularly easy. It was full of ups and downs but the hard work, resilience and dedication paid off and I’m extremely grateful for that. I am particularly grateful to Almighty Allah for making this happen. Alhamdulillah.”
This jinx breaker also started and completed her ICAN while in the university, making her a Chartered Accountant. “While I was studying, I started and completed my ICAN examinations, I tutored at Resolution Professional Center, under the direction of Abiodun Moshood, I was a member of The Tax Club OAU, I was a tax manager at Students’ Professional Bureau of Accountancy, OAU .”

“Together with my friends (who also bagged first class) Naseemah Adewuyi, Kafilat Kuku, Kaosarat Adeboye, Aminat Folarin, I did relaxation parties. I also took several awarding competitions,” she says.
Kafilat Kuku, one of her acquaintances, added, “I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Management and Accounting, with an overall CGPA of 4.57/5.00 (First Class Honors).” She had the privilege to be inducted by ICAN as an Associate Member of Accounting Technicians (AAT) while also passed her Association of Chartered Accountants (ACA) exams, waiting to be inducted in the coming months.
Similarly, Aminat Folarin said, “I am delighted to share with you that I graduated with a CGPA of 4.73/5.0( first class honors).” “I am excited to embark on my professional journey and eagerly looking forward to exploring diverse opportunities. I am enthusiastic about gaining experience and skills.”
Also, Kaosarat Adeboye stated that, “I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Management and Accounting with a remarkable CGPA of 4.78/5.0 (First Class Honours). I also received an award as the best student in Auditing (ACC 303).”
While Naseemah Adewuyi ACA, AAT, who also graduated with Bsc Accounting, first class honours also added: “As I step into the next phase of my journey, I’m eager and enthusiastic to explore opportunities in the corporate world. With a degree in Accounting, I’m excited to apply my skills, creativity, and passion to make a meaningful impact. ‘
“I’m on the lookout for opportunities where I can contribute, learn, and grow professionally. For the 2023 convocation ceremonies, no fewer than 158 students of Obafemi Awolowo University bagged First Class degrees. In Bachelor Degrees, 158 made First Class (Honours), while 1,970 made 2nd Class (Honours, Upper Division). Also, 2,906 made 2nd Class (Honours, Lower Division), while 942 in 3rd Class (Honours) category and 65 graduands are on pass category. In addition, the school has a total of 7,986 graduates at the institution’s 47th Convocation programmes.
