Renowned Islamic scholar, Mufti Menk, paid a visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday. Following the meeting, the Grand Mufti of Zimbabwe’s Muslim community and head of the fatwa department for the Council of Islamic Scholars of Zimbabwe, stated that he and other Islamic scholars were in Abuja for a peace and unity convention scheduled for the weekend.

Mufti Menk, who mentioned that the delegation of scholars had visited Lagos the previous weekend for a similar convention, emphasized the importance of Nigerians living together harmoniously and respecting one another despite their diverse faiths and backgrounds. The purpose of the convention, he explained, was not only to empower Nigeria for peaceful coexistence but also to emphasize the need for unity among its citizens.

Highlighting the significance of respecting leadership, Mufti Menk expressed the belief that Nigeria could become the best nation in Africa and a shining example for the continent when citizens rally behind leadership, contribute positively, and serve the country with integrity and honesty.

He remarked, “If we are going to rally behind the leadership and ensure that everyone contributes positively to this nation, Nigeria can be the best nation in Africa. I believe it is the right time to be upright and honest and to serve the nation. In this way, we will be able to be a shining example for the rest of Africa.” Mufti Menk concluded by expressing his hope that Nigerian citizens would be upright and honest, enabling the nation to achieve more than what has been dreamed of.
