The national president of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, on Saturday, November 18, 2023 led the crème de la crème in Oyo state to the launching of the N1.5 billion development funds. The event, organised by the Saki Muslim community, was held at the Saki Muslim Hospital, along Ogbooro road.
The development fund is targeted towards the upgrading of the Muslim Hospital and School of the basic Midwifery, Muslim Medical Foundation, both in Saki, Oyo State.
The event was heavily graced by top personalities including Governor Seyi Makinde who was represented by his deputy, Barrister Bayo Lawal.
Others include Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Barrister Ahmed Raji who was the chief launcher, former Lagos state commissioner Abdulhakeem AbdulLateef Iyepe as guest speaker and a host of other illustrious sons and daughters of Saki community.
Royal fathers present at the event were the Okere of Saki, Oba Khalid Olabisi, Aseyin of Iseyin Oba Sefiu Oyehola Adeyeri III, Eleyinpo of Ipapo, Olokaka of Okaka, and others.
Speaking at the event, the chairman of the Saki Muslim Community and former police commissioner, Alhaji Sulaiman Oroyinyin, said the funds would be channelled towards the development of the midwifery College and hospital for efficient service delivery for the people of Oyo state and beyond.
He thanked the people of Saki for their efforts and financial contributions towards the success of the initiative.
While saluting the presence of Sultan, he described his coming to Saki as second homecoming, noting that he served in the community as a young military personnel serving his fatherland.
Oroyinyin also used the opportunity to highlight the plight of the Muslim community in the Saki, and rallied support for the institution in Oyo state.
