Abuja-based entrepreneur Alhaji Aminu Baba-Kusa has generously donated a substantial piece of land, encompassing the renowned Al-Noor Masjid (Mosque) and an additional structure, to the International Centre for Islamic Culture and Education (ICICE) in Abuja.
This charitable act reflects his profound commitment to the progress of Islam and the Muslim community within Nigeria.
Baba-Kusa officially handed over the legal documents pertaining to the land, mosque, and associated property to Prof. Ibrahim Sulaiman, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the center, at Wuse 2, FCT.
The genesis of the Al-Noor mosque can be traced back to 2005, when Baba-Kusa conceived the idea during Umrah (lesser Hajj). Over time, he acquired the land, oversaw the construction, and completed the mosque, with prayers commencing in July 2012.
Baba-Kusa’s benevolent gesture represents half of the entire land area housing the Al-Noor mosque, totaling approximately 3.25 hectares. This encompasses the current building, mosque expansion, and proposed parking facilities. The purpose behind this donation is to benefit Muslims not only in Abuja but also from beyond, as numerous activities are anticipated to take place here.
He expressed confidence that the center will continue to serve as a prominent hub and platform for the dissemination of Islam.
Additionally, Baba-Kusa disclosed that the remaining portion of the land has been allocated for his company, Al-Noor Education Ltd., to facilitate various activities benefiting the center.
In response, Prof. Ibrahim Sulaiman lauded Baba-Kusa for his altruistic donation for the sake of Allah, urging him to continue his philanthropic endeavors.
Dr. Kabir Kabo, the Director-General of ICICE, praised Baba-Kusa and his family for their courageous and generous support, emphasizing that such contributions significantly enhance society.
Kabo assured that the center would persist in initiating high-quality educational and humanitarian programs to aid the less fortunate, including widows and orphans, while also conducting medical outreach to improve the health conditions of the impoverished and destitute.
