Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has also approved the reconstitution of the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Board, with top academic and community leader Prof Mashood Mahmood Jimba picked as the new chairman of the board, according to Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor today.
“Professor Jimba, until recently the chairman of the Kwara State Arabic Education Board, is an alumnus of the Azhar University Cairo (Egypt). He teaches at the Kwara State University Malete, where he is also the Dean of Students Affairs of the school.”
Also, he said other members of the board are former commissioner for Energy Hajia Fatimah Hassanah; Hajia Khadijat Abutawwiy; Dr. Abubakar Agbaje; Mrs Abibat Otuyo; and Mallam Musa Haruna Farikebe.
Meanwhile, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Malete, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, has congratulated Professor Moshood Mahmud Jimba on his appointment as chairman of the State Muslim Pilgrims Board, Dr. Saeedat Aliyu Ag. Director, University Relations said in a statement.
The University helmsman described the appointment as a testimony to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s strategic placing of technocrats to head boards and agencies, which would result in excellent service delivery.
“Professor Jimoh commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for picking a qualified staff of the institution for the critical area of Muslim pilgrimage, adding that the track record of Professor Jimba was proof that the board would receive a new burst of progressive activities.”
“Professor Jimoh prayed that Allah would guide the new Chaiman of the board and give him the wisdom to propell the board to more success.”
Professor Jimba, a Professor of Arabic Language and Literature, has been the chairman of the State Arabic Education Board and is the Dean of Student Affairs of Kwara State University.
