Saudi Airline has launched a new aircraft and new office in Kano in an effort to improve access to business, tourism, and religious opportunities to Nigerians and Africans in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, Consul General to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Kano, Kahlil Ahmed Admawi said Saudi Airline has been in existence in Kano for many decades as the first branch was opened in the state in 1982.
Saudia, the flag carrier of Saudi Arabia and previously known as Saudi Arabian Airlines, has emerged as a distinguished global airline over the past 76 years, ever since its inception in 1945. Saudia stands third as one of the largest airlines in the Middle East, preceded by Emirates and Qatar Airways.
The airline’s primary hub is at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. King Fahd International Airport in Dammam and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh are secondary hubs. It operates domestic and international scheduled flights to over 100 destinations in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe and North America. Domestic and international charter flights are operated, mostly during the Ramadan and the Hajj season.
Saudi Airlines joined the SkyTeam airline alliance on 29 May 2012 becoming the first Arab Gulf carrier to join one of the three major airline alliances. Saudia is a member and one of the founders of the Arab Air Carriers Organization.
It has been the proud recipient of numerous awards over the years due to its excellence in customer satisfaction and comfort flying. Its latest award includes the “Five Star Global Airlines” award in the year 2020, presented by APEX, one of the world’s largest international airline associations.
