We can decide to improve on ways that lead to doom, as much as we can strive to attain eternal pleasure by way of putting extra efforts that will spur us into better footing to achieving the said eternal pleasure. It’s not unknown to our Creator how hard we are trying to please Him, by attending to what He commands us to do, and shunning what He warns us against, but by taking extra leap in fulfilling these pleasing gestures – and taking a leap of faith that such actions will be divinely rewarded, extraordinarily – we can be rest assured that immeasurable rewards await us.
Living a life of purpose is majorly ingrained in the worship of Allah, as Allah made us know that He didn’t create us into this world for other than worship. “And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.” [Ad-Dhariyat 51:56]. This, as proven by the Almighty, shows that pleasing Him should be placed above any other worldly engagements we may be entangled in, and worship includes doing what He orders to be done and kicking against what He forbids, as explained in the first paragraph.
It is most likely that we will agree that what Allah SWT prioritizes for us, such as this, is what need not be taken with levity, but rather committed to, and going extra miles to ensure its fulfilment should not be waded off. This is because a servant who truly acknowledges his dependedence being on his master, will ensure to keep being on that path pleasing to him, even if he were to ‘overflex his muscles’, so as to keep seeing his favors. Also, doing the extra work to upgrade our worship, may be our shield against any probable recline in worship that may hit, as a result of human weakness.
It pays to always dedicate fully to what our success in both worlds, most especially the Aakhira, is binding upon. May Allah grant us the capability to score impressive marks on them, Aameen.
