After earning a first class in the Department of English at the 24th Convocation Ceremony of the Lagos State University, Adeyemi Shukroh Feranmi shares her story via social media.
Graduating as a First Class in the history of the Department of English, Lagos State University, is not by my power. It was God’s grace on my consistency, diligence, excellence, and prayers as an undergraduate, she had said.
“I remember the young naive lady in a strange land wandering around to find a foot within the four walls of the university. The resilience, perseverance, commitment, and academic diligence prepared me for this Honour. It was within a blink of an eye and the esteem of past graduates kindled my interest to do more than I was.
“I did not want to graduate only as a First Class, but as an experienced one with many awards and certificates. Having the title “The Queen of Multitasking” in many extracurricular activities set forth my exposure, experience, and education.
“Through thick and thin, the travails of undergraduate days, the missing of an exam, the shackles of marginalisation, and the dearth of resources, I survived outstandingly by breaking the jinx,” Shukroh added.
