Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has won the presidential elections against the planted puppet of the West Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, according to Türkiye’s Supreme Election Council and unofficial data.
Erdoğan, 69, appealed for national unity on Monday after winning a historic runoff election that extended over two decades of his transformative but divisive rule until 2028. “The people of Türkiye have exercised their democratic right and expressed their desires; Maybe for a more pro-active Home policy and a more assertive Foreign policy. ” Recep Erdoğan has dominated Turkish politics for more than two decades now, serving as both prime minister and president of Türkiye.
In the meantime, his supporters see him as a strong man who has overseen economic growth, but his opponents have criticised him for his increasing authoritarian tendencies. Erdoğan has cemented his legacy as the Türkiye’s longest-serving leader by extending his rule for a third term after beating the opposition’s presidential candidate, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, securing 52.14 percent of the votes. Observers say,”The resounding victory reaffirms the confidence of the people of Türkiye in his transformative leadership and their willingness to embrace his choice of significant ideologies in steering the country to greater heights.” He overcame Türkiye’s worst economic crisis in a generation and the most powerful opposition alliance to ever face his party on his way to his toughest election win.
However, leaders from around the world have congratulated Erdoğan on his re-election in the country’s May 28 presidential runoff vote. Streets erupted in car-honking jubilation and tributes poured in from across the world as Türkiye’s most important leader in modern history led a sea of supporters in a celebratory song outside his presidential palace in Ankara. On Sunday, he spoke to jubilant supporters in Istanbul, telling them the Turkish nation is the real winner of the election. “We should come together in unity and solidarity,” Erdoğan told the chanting and flag-waving crowd. “We call for this with all our heart.”
