FG names Dr. Ibraheem Adedotun Abdul as the new Rector of Yabatech


The appointment of Dr. Ibraheem Adedotun Abdul as the rector of Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) has been accepted by the Federal Government. He got his letter of appointment as rector from Comr. Adamu Adamu, the minister of education, on Monday.

According to a press release from Joe Ejiofor, Deputy Registrar/Head of Public Relations, Dr. Abdul, a chief lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, had been the Director of Open Distance and Flexible E-Learning (previously, Flexible Skills Development Centre) of the College prior to this appointment.

In addition to acting as Chairman and member of significant and strategic management and academic board committees, Engr Abdul also served as the previous Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

The new Rector, Dr. Ibraheem Adedotun Abdul, was introduced to the college community on Tuesday by Prince Lateef Fagbemi, Chairman of the Yaba College of Technology Governing Council.

Born in 1965, Dr. Abdul is an Ado-Odo-Otta, Ogun State native. In 1993, he began working for Yaba College of Technology as a Lecturer 2 and progressively advanced until he was named chief lecturer in 2012.

Dr. Abdul is a highly esteemed and accomplished academic who has produced illuminating works in national and international journals.

Engr. Obafemi Omokungbe’s term as rector expired on January 29, 2023, and his successor, Dr. Abdul, is a happily married parent of young children.
