The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of LOTUS Bank, Mrs. Kafilat Araoye, has challenged every student of the University of Ilorin to be a critical thinker who identifies opportunity, mobilizing resources, and taking action in order to be a successful entrepreneur.
The MD/CEO of the LOTUS, a Non-Interest Bank stated this while delivering a lecture entitled “Entrepreneurship skills needed to thrive in the 21st Century” at the Public Lecture on Entrepreneurship powered by University of Ilorin Technical and Entrepreneurship Centre, TEC, and Lotus Bank, held at the University Auditorium.
They can become one of the most successful entrepreneurs of the 21st century if they have a strong sense of mission and goal focus, according to Mrs. Araoye, who advised the university staff and students that “it is never too early or too late to start small.”
She asserts that small scale businesses in the 21st century are mostly virtual, saying, the internet has made it easier than ever to start a business since global markets can be reached with just the click of a button.
The Vice-Chancellor of University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, earlier in his welcome address, titled “Bag Your Degree, Develop Your Skills”, urged the students of the university to take advantage of the lecture and the university’s investments in creating a smart campus to be truly better by far upon graduation.
