On January 25, 2023, Summit University, Offa hosted its 7th Matriculation Ceremony amid fanfare. It was unquestionably a colorful event that was attended by a sizable number of invited guests, parents, instructors, students, the commandant of the Nigerian Navy College of Health Sciences, the rector of Federal Polytechnic in Offa, the rector of Graceland Polytechnic in Offa, the rector of Lens Polytechnic in Offa, and numerous other guests.
The Vice-Chancellor, Engineer Professor Abiodun Musa Aibinu, thanked Almighty Allah in his welcome speech for His kindness, generosity, and charity in allowing the University to organize another matriculation ceremony. He emphasized the significance of matriculation in the life of freshmen as the necessary ritual they must complete before they can be considered legitimate university students.
He thanked the students for choosing Summit University, Offa as their top university and made a vow that they would never second-guess their decision or feel inferior to their colleagues at other universities.
In a statement made by Bashir O. Atoyebi and attributed to the VC, the P.R.O, Summit University, Offa is ever committed to the pursuit of academic excellence that include research, innovation, invention and would prepare them to face daunting challenges they might face in future.
“Prof. Aibinu admonished them not to get involved in a condition that could put them in a straitjacket dilemma and reminded them of the University’s zero tolerance for indiscipline and other social vices that include examination malpractice, thuggery, fighting, hooliganism, stealing, vandalism, drunkenness, advance fee fraud, sexual harassment and so on.”
“He also advised the matriculating students against indecent mode of dressing as the University frowns at the act, and enjoined them to always dress corporately and decently.”
Prof. Aibinu didn’t fail to express his gratitude to the Summit University, Offa Proprietor, Board of Trustees, Governing Council, Senate, Management, Staff, and Students for their unwavering support and collaboration. He promised not to breach the trust placed in him and to put in more effort to fulfill the Proprietor’s vision.
The Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Moh’d Gbadamosi, Esuwoye II, and other notable Offa sons and daughters were thanked for their ongoing support, and he urged them to do more. He also thanked the host community of Offa.
