Ten thousand of the mobile homes that Qatar deployed to house football fans during the FIFA World Cup in 2022 are being donated to earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria. The first shipment of housing for the earthquake victims was shipped on Sunday.

Some of the 1.1 million visitors to the 2022 World Cup were previously housed in the cabins and caravans.

The Emir of Qatar also gave the order to launch an air bridge for Turkey that was outfitted with field hospitals, assistance supplies, tents, and other crucial tools.

The first shipment of housing for the earthquake victims was shipped on Sunday. The FIFA World Cup 2022 was held there, and the mobile homes served as lodging. The intention had always been to donate these mobile homes, but Qatar opted to provide the earthquake victims in light of the destruction in Turkey and Syria. It cost $200 a night for guests to stay in these accommodations while they were in Qatar for the FIFA World Cup, easing any potential housing crisis for tourists from other countries. The initial batch of transportation included 350 mobile homes.
The dwelling units were erected on the barren stretches of desert that encircle Doha, the capital of Qatar.

During the Oun and Sanad campaign, the Emir of Qatar also made a QAR 50 million ($14 million) live television donation. The campaign effort brought in QAR 168,015,836 (about $19 million). The first foreign head of state to visit Turkey following the deadly earthquake was Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim, who also paid a visit and met with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The death toll from one of the devastating earthquakes that struck Turkey and Syria has surpassed 36,000. Millions of people are now homeless.
