Prof. (Mrs) Olayinka Ramota Karim has been appointed the Vice Chancellor, Fountain University, Oṣogbo (FUO). FUO is one of the universities in Nigeria that are faith oriented. Before her new appointment Prof. Olayinka Ramota Karim is the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ilorin, Nigeria.
Karim Olayinka Ramota is a native of Ijebu Ode, Ogun state. She is a Professor in the Department of Home Economics and Food Science, University of Ilorin, Kwara State.
Prof. Ramota had her primary education at Ansarudeen Primary School between 1975 and 1980, and her secondary education at Muslim Girls’ High School between 1981 and 1986, both at Ijebu-ode. She then proceeded to Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAB), Ogun State where she obtained her Bachelor of Science with Second Class Upper Division in Food Science and Technology in 1992. She obtained her Master of Science in Food Technology from University of Ibadan, Oyo State in 1995 and her Doctor of Philosophy in Food Science and Technology (Food Processing and Quality Control) in 2005 also from FUNAB.
Similarly, she had a Diploma in Agribusiness and Post-harvest Management (Israel) in 2015, and Certificates in Inter-religious Dialogue, Conflict Transformation and Mediation (Abuja) in 2019; Advanced Digital Appreciation Programme-Tertiary (Abuja) in 2010; Microsoft Learning Content Development System (Ilorin) in 2009, and Research Methodology in Science (NIFST) was obtained in 2000.
The 52 years old professor has invested over 24 years of enviable teaching, research, community service, and consulting in Food Science and Technology and to humanity in general.
Fountain University was established by the Nasrul-lahi-li Fatih Society in 2007. It is one of the private universities in Nigeria that offers diverse undergraduate programmes.
