The Katsina State Police Command on Sunday said its operatives have rescued six out of the 19 worshippers abducted by terrorists at a mosque in Maigamji community of Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State on Saturday evening.
The six victims were part of the 19 worshippers abducted by terrorists around 7.40 pm on Saturday from a mosque at Maigamji community in the Funtua LGA.
The Katsina State Police Spokesman, SP Gambo said a combined team of the Police and vigilante immediately went in search of the terrorists and rescued 6 of the victims.
According to SP Gambo, 2 persons were rescued immediately while the other four were rescued on Sunday morning.
“It’s true. The terrorists stormed the Mosque at Maigamji while people were observing Ishsha’i prayers”.
“They shot and injured the Imam and one other person. The rescued victims are currently responding to treatment in a hospital. The terrorists also abducted some worshippers that night, but a combined team of the Police and the vigilante rescued two of the victims earlier that night.”
”The security operatives also rescued four other victims, making a total of six victims who have been rescued so far”, he noted.
SP Gambo added that the Police are putting all measures in place to ensure the safe release of the remaining 13 victims still in the custody of the terrorists.
