Kwara mourns as Justice Titi Daibu passes away

Justice Titi Daibu, the daughter of late Alhaja Hanatu Nagode (Nee Belgore) is dead. The Muslim Voice learnt that the retired jurist died on Monday after a brief illness in a hospital in Abuja. The late Vice-Chancellor of the Kwara State University, Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi, died less than 24 hours before the jurist.

Governor of Kwara State AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq characterized Justice Sofiyyah Titi Daibu’s passing as a painful loss to the state, describing her as one of the shining lights of the bench in the state.

Alhaji AbdulRazaq said in a statement signed by Rafiu Ajakaye Chief Press Secretary to the Governor on
November 22, 2022, that the death of the senior High Court Judge was shocking.

“This, again, is a huge depletion in the ranks of the great minds in our state, especially in the judiciary where she was a leader with a difference,” he said.

“Our commiserations go to the judiciary in the state and Nigeria, the Ilorin community as a whole, and especially her families on all sides. Our consolation is that Justice Daibu was an exemplary figure, loved within and outside of the bench for her good nature.

Similarly, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari commiserated with the family of late judge.

According to the Emir’s spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, in a condolence message issued on Monday, “His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR is overwhelmed by the numerous unfortunate occurrences happening in the Ilorin Emirate especially with the demise of Justice Safiya Titilayo Daibu who breath her last breath today (Monday).

“She was known for hard-work, intelligence and friendliness both as a family woman and judicial officer who dispenses Justice with thorough investigation and in-depth knowledge of the profession. Late Titi Dayibu was a caring wife and mother, a philanthropist of all seasons and a community mobilizer.”

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari however commiserated with her husband, Barrister Lanre Daibu, the deceased children, the entire members of Ikokoro family compound as well as members of the judiciary over the death of Justice Titi Daibu.

The Emir therefore prayed Allah to forgive her shortcomings, accept her good deeds and admit her into al-janatul firdaos.”

Janaza according to the source from the deceased family is scheduled to hold today by 4:pm at her GRA residence, off Ahmadu Bello way, Ilorin.
