Against all odds, Sadio Mané Wins 1st Socrates Award for Humanitarian Work in Ballon d’Or

The inaugural recipient of the Socrates Prize is Sadio Mané.
A player receives the honor in recognition of their contributions to humanity. In a similar vein, he is ranked second for the Ballon D’Or this year! Since George Weah won the prize in 1995, this is the highest position an African player has held in the Ballon d’Or Rankings.

Sadio Mané, a man with a beautiful heart, defied the odds. His narrative is remarkably similar to every other little African youngster who began life on the street in bare feet, dreaming and essentially simply hoping. the ones that eventually escape from this place. once they come into contact with money? They become impossible to reach and touch.

Mané has committed his enormous salary to helping others ( his community particularly). He did it all by himself, turning his village into a town.

In his hometown of Bambaly, he constructed a £455,000 hospital and a €250,000 school. Every month, Sadio offers each household €70 ( this is something he has been doing for years and he is still doing). He partnered with Orange to give them access to 4G internet. He is constructing both a gas station and a post office.

The population of his village is over 2,000. Mané accomplished all of this while making between 100,000 and 150,000 pounds each week while at Liverpool.

He is more than a simple humanitarian. Mané displayed some of his finest football of his career last year.

The Ballon d’Or is an annual football award presented by French news magazine France Football since 1956. At 2022 Ballon d’Or awards ceremony, Manchester City won club of the year. Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema won his first career Ballon d’Or on Monday, October 17, becoming only the fifth Frenchman to do so and at 34 years old is the oldest winner since Stanley Matthews in 1956.
