A Ugandan who was employed for a petrol station in Qatar and gave a Friday sermon at a mosque when the imam was running late was recognized and received accolades after a video of him went viral on social media.
In Doha, the youthful man spoke to the congregation through a mosque microphone for at least two minutes and 20 seconds without reading any material.

A Qatari institution concerned with youth, Ajyal educational centre has honoured the Ugandan youth.
He was praised for memorizing Quranic passages in the video clip posted on the Ajial Educational Center’s Twitter account, which showed him giving the sermon without consulting any written notes.

Ajial tweeted: “In the context of promoting righteous behaviour and tolerant Islamic values, the participants in the programme honoured the Ugandan gas worker”.
Children cheered him on, flung flowers his way, and gave him a standing ovation as the center accorded him a corridor of honor and a warm welcome. The centre said in a statement that the “Wathiq” program this season aims to address the phenomenon of bullying in a video of the Ugandan youth during his honour.
