Jaiz Bank Celebrate Hassan Usman, Outgoing MD/CEO

The adage “The world stops when a man of integrity and strong leadership is praised” is undoubtedly true. On September 28, 2022, all roads led to 73, Ralph Shodeinde Street, Kano House, Central Business Area, Abuja for the celebration of this shrewd, devoted, diligent, and humble man’s banking life. This was the case for the outgoing MD/CEO of Jaiz Bank Mr. Hassan Usman.

The Jaiz Bank staff gathered in Abuja on a colorful morning to bid the departing MD/CE farewell as he starts his final leave. In order to send off the charming, modest, dapper, and bespoke gentleman who has been in charge of Jaiz since June 1, 2016, dignitaries from all walks of life gathered at the first Islamic bank in Nigeria.

Mr. Hassan Usman, a certified accountant earned a first-class accounting degree from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Nigeria, in 1985, and and became an associate member of ICAN in 1989.

Jaiz Bank’s Chief Compliance Officer, Mrs. Rukayat O. Dahiru, made the following comments about Mr. Hassan on social media:, “Words aren’t enough to describe this colossus! He’s a leader per excellence. He is never weary of providing guidance and inspiration to everyone around him. His leadership style is made up of authority as well as a positive attitude that fosters his team members’ qualities and creates a work environment where we can all be open, honest, and productive.

“He is approachable (almost to a fault), extremely patient (almost to a fault too), he has a growth mindset and always focuses on the bank’s best interest under any given circumstance.”

He will be succeeded by Sirajo Salisu PhD, formerly the MD of the Gambia Arab Bank, who has been the Executive Director, Business Development, North, working closely with Hassan, for some years. The Jaiz Bank’s succession planning methodology has proven to be effective as seen by the seamless transition procedure.

With asset financing totaling over N166 billion, the Bank’s balance sheet increased from N12 billion in 2012 to around N233 billion (as at December 31st, 2020).
