On Friday, Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, had a visit from the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, in Port Harcourt.
Sultan Abubakar was in Port Harcourt to declare open the Federation of Muslim Women’s Association in Nigeria’s (FOMWAN) 37th Annual National Conference.
In a press conference to announce the commencement of the association’s 2022 national conference, which starts on Thursday in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, Alhaja Rafi’ah Idowu Sanni stated that the conference would examine the theme: “Bridging the inter-generational gap of sustainable development”: Spectrum of opportunities using the Islamic lens; With other sub-topics like; developing effective framework towards enhancing sustainable livelihood.
The conference, according to her, will also shed light on women’s duties, responsibilities to themselves and to the community at large, focusing on why Islamic and moral education for children are priorities.
The major challenge, according to Alhaja Sanni, to strive to build a God-conscious and spiritually inclined generation that will take over the baton of good deeds, righteousness, dedication to faith and the best of manners.
The Amirah who reeled out the core values of the association which she said are being implemented across the nation, appreciated the fourth estate of the realm as she implored them to engage in practices that will promote national integration and peaceful co-existence among the diverse components of the nation.
She also expressed her gratitude to the association’s board of trustees, the FOMWAN families in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, Ghana, and the Gambia, as well as the governor of the state of Rivers, Mr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, for the cordial welcome and expression of love.
