The 11th Indigenous Inspector-General of Police, IGP Tafa Balogun (Mustafa Adebayo Balogun), passed away on August 4, 2022, at the Redington Hospital in Lekki, Lagos State, following a brief illness, according to a press release earlier today from IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, fdc, on behalf of the Force Management team and Officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
Between March 2002 and January 2005, IGP Mustapha Adebayo Balogun, NPM, fwc, who is from Ila-Orangun in Osun State, served as the inspector general of the Nigerian Police Force. During this time, he oversaw the establishment of the Police Mobile Force Training College in Ila-Orangun. The former IGP served in a number of administrative, operational, and investigative posts across the nation after earning degrees from the Universities of Lagos and Ibadan, where he studied Political Science and Law, respectively.
The late IGP Tafa, as he was affectionately known, was a fellow at the National War College, Abuja, which is now the National Defence College. His master’s degrees, which spanned a variety of academic and professional sectors, were equally numerous.
The late IGP will be buried in his country house in Ila-Orangun, Osun State on Saturday, August 6, 2022, in accordance with Islamic rites, said CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, mnipr, mipra, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters Abuja, on August 5, 2022. The Inspector-General of Police expresses his condolences to the late IGP’s immediate family, friends, and coworkers while also praying for the rest of his soul.
