In Islam, there are two major Eids (Celebration Festivals): Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan, and Eid al-Adha, the greater Eid, which occurs after the yearly Hajj journey is complete and is the time of Qurbani (sacrifice). Although Eid al-Adha has no direct connection to the Hajj pilgrimage, it is only one day after it is over and has historical significance because of this.
Muslims around the world observe Eid al-Adha, as a significant holiday for three to four days. At several significant mosques and Islamic centers in Nigeria and around the world, Muslims will participate in the special prayers being offered.
While children are entertained and given the day off from school, Muslims typically wear new clothing and some exchange gifts. On that day, many Muslims likewise choose not to work.
