Saudi Extends Flights Deadline As Hajj Boss Meet Authorities


About 3000 Nigerian pilgrims who still need to be airlifted to Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj may be feeling relieved now that the General Authority on Civil Aviation (GACA) has extended the deadline for the closure of Airspace until July 7th.

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) today released the following statement, which was signed by Fatima Sanda Usara, Assistant Director, Public Affairs: “This is to bring to the notice of Nigerian intending pilgrims to 2022 Hajj and other stakeholders in the Hajj and Umrah industry that the Chairman of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan had to proceed to Saudi Arabia to enable him make further arrangements in the interest of Nigerian pilgrims.

Alhaji Abdullahi Magaji Hardawa, the commissioner of operations, is now in charge of organizing domestic affairs. Along with some staff members, the Deputy Director and Head of Aviation Engr. Goni Sanda, the Deputy Director Special Duties, Bashir Jazuli, and the Commissioner are present to assist him.

New Hajj Flights Extension

The General Authority on Civil Aviation (GACA) has extended the deadline for the closure of Airspace until July 7th, which may have brought some relief to the approximately 3000 Nigerian pilgrims who still need to be airlifted to Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj.

Following a high-level meeting between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia, the suspension was lifted. The meeting was presided over by the chairman and CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria in Saudi Arabia.

As a result of this new development, the sirlifting operation between Max Air and Azman Airlines would resume where it left off. As of right now, the Commission and Flynas have agreed to operate three (3) rescue flights for pilgrims in Kano and Abuja.
