Ahmad Nawaz, a peace campaigner who was born in Pakistan, has been elected as the MT22 President of Oxford Union. The world’s most renowned debating society, Oxford Union, was established in 1823.
Ahmad works to improve youth empowerment, sustainability, and the availability of opportunities for underprivileged kids.
He tweeted about his latest accomplishment and stated: “Immensely proud to have finally assumed my duties as the President of Oxford Union.
“In my time as President, I look forward to having world leaders debate the most pressing issues, empowering young people through this platform & upholding freedom of speech!

Imran Khan, chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and a former leader of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, praised Ahmad Nawaz the young activist on social media. He said: “Congratulations Ahmad Nawaz on being elected President of Oxford Union. This brave young man who survived the 2014 APS terrorist attack, is an inspiration for all. Ahmad, you make us all proud with your spirit and determination reflected in your continuing achievements.

Ahmad Nawaz’s school in Peshawar, Pakistan, was attacked by a group of gunmen on December 16, 2014. 151 people, mostly children, were murdered by them, including Ahmad’s younger brother Haris. Ahmad had to fake dead to survive after being shot in the arm.
