Al-Hassan Abdullah, a poor Ghanaian villager whose tale went viral on Turkish social media after he asked a TV crew if “a drone can carry him to Mecca,” will visit the Saudi Arabia where millions of Muslims go every year for the hajj, the annual Muslim pilgrimage.

Alhaji Al-Hassan Abdullah hails from Ghana. He is impoverished and lives on a settlement settlement in the outskirts of the city. A drone belonging to a Turkish news organization crashed adjacent to his residence a few years ago.

The Turkish journalists went seeking for it, and when they discovered the man holding the drone, he joked, “do you have a larger one that can take me to Hajj?”

Foreign Minister Mevlüt avuşolu intervened after Abdullah’s story went viral on social media in 2017. The Turkish government decided to send the man to Hajj with all expenses paid when the journalist publicized the story.
